This list of 50 of life’s lessons was compiled by Regina Brett.<\/p>\n

Whats the connection you may well ask??<\/p>\n

Well none really except for a Facebook link\u00a0to an\u00a0wildly inaccurate attribution<\/a>\u00a0that underscored the fact that you should not believe everything you find on the internet.<\/p>\n

Regina Brett<\/a>\u00a0is not 90 years old. She is a spritely 56 years old. Yes she did write a list of life’s lessons, (to coincide with her 50th birthday). However it was 50 lessons not 42. And of course the picture was not of Regina Brett at all, but rather of Iris Apfel.<\/p>\n

Having said that, the list of life’s lessons is very true. Although I think the list should be headed by<\/p>\n

IN LIFE, FRIENDS ARE THE FAMILY WE CHOOSE<\/p>\n

  1. Life isn\u2019t fair, but it\u2019s still good.<\/li>\n
  2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.<\/li>\n
  3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.<\/li>\n
  4. Don\u2019t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.<\/li>\n
  5. Pay off your credit cards every month.<\/li>\n
  6. You don\u2019t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.<\/li>\n
  7. Cry with someone. It\u2019s more healing than crying alone.<\/li>\n
  8. It\u2019s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.<\/li>\n
  9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.<\/li>\n
  10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.<\/li>\n
  11. Make peace with your past so it won\u2019t screw up the present.<\/li>\n
  12. It\u2019s OK to let your children see you cry.<\/li>\n
  13. Don\u2019t compare your life to others\u2019. You have no idea what their journey is all about.<\/li>\n
  14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn\u2019t be in it.<\/li>\n
  15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don\u2019t worry; God never blinks.<\/li>\n
  16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.<\/li>\n
  17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.<\/li>\n
  18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.<\/li>\n
  19. It\u2019s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.<\/li>\n
  20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don\u2019t take no for an answer.<\/li>\n
  21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don\u2019t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.<\/li>\n
  22. Over-prepare, then go with the flow.<\/li>\n
  23. Be eccentric now. Don\u2019t wait for old age to wear purple.<\/li>\n
  24. The most important sex organ is the brain.<\/li>\n
  25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.<\/li>\n
  26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: \u201cIn five years, will this matter?\u201d<\/li>\n
  27. Always choose life.<\/li>\n
  28. Forgive everyone everything.<\/li>\n
  29. What other people think of you is none of your business.<\/li>\n
  30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.<\/li>\n
  31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.<\/li>\n
  32. Your job won\u2019t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.<\/li>\n
  33. Believe in miracles.<\/li>\n
  34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn\u2019t do.<\/li>\n
  35. Whatever doesn\u2019t kill you really does make you stronger.<\/li>\n
  36. Growing old beats the alternative \u2013 dying young.<\/li>\n
  37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.<\/li>\n
  38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.<\/li>\n
  39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.<\/li>\n
  40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else\u2019s, we\u2019d grab ours back.<\/li>\n
  41. Don\u2019t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.<\/li>\n
  42. Get rid of anything that isn\u2019t useful, beautiful or joyful.<\/li>\n
  43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.<\/li>\n
  44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.<\/li>\n
  45. The best is yet to come.<\/li>\n
  46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.<\/li>\n
  47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.<\/li>\n
  48. If you don\u2019t ask, you don\u2019t get.<\/li>\n
  49. Yield.<\/li>\n
